Birth Marks: Correcting The Effects of Birth Stress On Your Child

The birth process is one of the most profound experiences a human being will go through in his or her life. The means with which he or she enters the world determines a variety of health indicators due to the nature of the labor process. How a developing child is positioned in utero coupled with the mother’s posture, pelvic alignment, level of stress, diet, history of trauma, laboring position and means of induction among others are clear determinants of a successful, healthy delivery. In most cases, pregnant mommas are well-equipped – nay programmed – to successfully and healthfully deliver their babies vaginally. However, even in the most routine and natural deliveries, traumas associated with passage through the birth canal may adversely affect the child’s cranial bones, spine and nervous system, contributing to a host of common childhood ailments, delayed benchmarks and health concerns. When augmentation or Caesarean section is employed, the stress to a newborn’s spine and cranium is amplified due to twisting, pulling and suctioning that occurs contributing to neurological and developmental setbacks ranging from subtle to serious.

Children deserve to live healthy lives from the very second they enter the world, which is why pediatric chiropractors, craniosacral therapists and other specially-trained bodyworkers spend so much time and energy working with children born traumatically. We frequently see very common health concerns in newborns that may be related to birth-induced spinal and cranial stress and trauma such as colic, constipation, delayed crawling and walking, learning difficulties, latching difficulties, asthma, recurrent ear infections, torticollis and many others. If this sounds like your child, we hope that you will please join us for a very special workshop on Wednesday November 12th at Suhka Wellness Center in Avila Beach CA from 6-7:30pm entitled Birth Marks: Correcting the Effects of Birth Stress On Your Child where pediatric chiropractor Dr Daniel Bronstein and birthing educator Jennifer Stover will discuss many of these common conditions, where they came from and most importantly, how to identify and correct them!
